Oasis, Greensborough
In this project we designed an Urban Oasis garden in Greensborough. We designed different 'garden rooms' in this project by using different materiality and planting. We designed a zen style courtyard with dromana toppings and large coldstream rock with a centralised tree, two entertaining areas, one using exposed aggregate and the second using decking. To connect the two entertaining areas together we used gabion cages filled with beautiful river rocks, these cages also double as seating. The gabion cages also create a raised garden bed along the back of the deck. We planted a Japanese maple in the decking as a beautiful feature plant, and for future shade and Autumn interest. Using the angles of the house we also generated the shape of the lawn, which is large and expansive. At AKAS Landscape Architecture we pride ourselves on our use of native and indigenous plants and the way we apply these into modern landscape principles and also with exotic plants, in this design 50% of the plants selected are locally indigenous to Melbourne.
