Town Hall - Richmond

This foodscape system is designed by Urban Commons. AKAS landscape architecture collaborated on this project to design the planting palette and helped in the construction of the project.

Words taken from Urban Commons website:

The Richmond Town Hall Foodscape is the first ‘pop up space’ undertaken by the City of Yarra.

Located at the forecourt of the old police station, Bridge Road, the Foodscape system provides a cost effective and speedy method to implement new public amenity. The garden also demonstrates how to integrate sustainable edibles gardens into public space.

The beds are populated with a mix of shade and sun tolerant edible and native species. The shadiest areas have a high proportion of perennial and larger growing plants, while areas that are part shade/sun have a mix of edible annuals and perennials. The sunniest and the most exposed areas are planted with local native edible plants.
